Luckily we have TiVo and other DVR, which help to record all the matches so that we could make them up later on TV, without missing any of the matches. However, fanatic football fans may complain, “Why can’t I bring the World Cup matches with me and watch the football game on the way to my work?” Well, of course you can. As far as I know, TiVo Desktop, free supplementary software by TiVo, can help TiVo users to transfer their recordings to computer or laptop.

In order to enjoy TiVo recordings on iPad, you get to transfer TiVo to your PC and then convert TiVo files to iPad compatible formats.

1. Transfer TiVo recordings to PC (or laptop)

Transferring TiVo recordings to PC is easy and straight-forward. All you need is a freeware by TiVo--- the TiVo Desktop (download the latest version v2.8). Connect the TiVo box with your home network, and run TiVo Desktop. Click on "Pick Recordings to Transfer". Check the box next to the title of the show (or shows) you want to transfer and click on "Start Transfer". Transfer times vary, but may be as long as the show's duration to complete the transfer.

2. Convert TiVo recordings to to iPad compatible formats.

There are too many converting tools on market, yet few do convert TiVo files. A recommended one is Pavtube TiVo to iPad Converter, which converts TiVo files as well as HD footages, Flash videos, Matroska container format, tec.

How to burn TiVo files to DVD?

Image

Have you recorded lots of your favorite TV programs via TiVo DVR, and want to burn them to DVD for playback as well as keeping backups? Yes, some people have the needs. Each time when I skim over discussion forums, I always see people asking questions like this: "I have TiVo and I have downloaded some programs, using TiVo Desktop, onto my computer. The thing is, I want to be able to view these programs onto my laptop, but I can not burn a DVD with the TiVo format. Is there anything I can do to convert it? Thanks!" To solve this universal problem once and for all, I specially write this post to show you guys how to burn TiVo files to DVD, if you are looking for such a solution, just feel free to read on it.

Required software:

Pavtube Tivo Converter

First of all, you should transfer your recorded files which you want to burn to DVD from your TiVo box to your personal PC via TiVo Desktop, that is "Pick Recordings to Transfer". Then do as the following instruction shown:

1. Download, install and run Pavtube Tivo Converter

Once you run it, the following wine red interface will appear, and you can click on "Add" button to load TiVo files into it.

2. Select DVD format and set destination folder

After TiVo files are imported, you should click the drop-down list of "Format" to select a VOB format for DVD burning. Here I choose DVD-Video Format – NTSC (*.vob) for instance. Notice that NTSC is a video format used in North America, Central America, Japan, and parts of South America; PAL is the video format used in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, most of Asia, and parts of South America; SECAM is used in Africa, Asia, Pacific Islands, Former USSR, and Americas. You should select one according to your geographical regions.

Meanwhile, you can click the folder icon at the end of "Output" to specify where to locate the output VOB files. Additionally, if you want to combine all the TiVo files you loaded to be as a single file, you can tick the checkbox "Merge into one file".

3. Set advanced settings

If you’d like to adjust the video and audio parameters of your TiVo files before conversion, you can press "Settings" button to enter the interface as below, on which you are permitted to adjust aspect ratio, bit rate, frame rate, sample rate, etc.

4. Start conversion with Pavtube Tivo Converter

As soon as the above steps are finished, you can click "Convert" button to begin converting TiVo files to VOB, which is the source file that can be burn to DVD directly. Once conversion is done, you are able to find out the output VOB files via clicking on "Open" button.

After that, you can use your DVD burners like Nero Express, ImgBurn to burn the VOB files to DVD with ease. Hope this is of some help.
