Not to be rude, but a link to your sources would be great, because without that the pricing is absolutely speculation.
Great site though…

Hey Carlos
I received a mail from one of my contacts that received the details from CelluCity .. Hope that helps
Delayed? That sucks. ITWEB though still thinks the release date is 22nd august? Now… the ? is to wait or just grab it on ebay!
@iphone Yep that helps… I just feel like complaining to Steve Jobs about being ripped off on pricing for it then. More importantly, i want to see how the COMPLETE package will look like (including data bundle of course).
Just my 2cents worth…
Sorry how come the iPhone 3G 8GB costs between R5000 - R6000 here but costs $199 (R1475) at the apple store??????
Does it cost them R3000+ to ship it here per phone???
That’s daylight robbery
@Mark
That $199 price is without the 24 month contract you have to take… read the fine print
Your site is rubbish - no multi coloured phones and the pricing will be in the R2000.00 area for the 8GB. Where do you get your crap info from ??????
Hi Stephen - that’s exactly what we said the price is in the R2000 region…
I cannot wait for it to come out in SA. Just would like to know how much it would cost if i had to buy the phone on contract?
Thanks.
The price for 8gb with contract will be R1450 - based on current exchange rates. Apple are forcing service providers to charge the same ($199) all over the world. The monthly fee wil probably be more expensive in line with everything else in SA. It is a disgrace that Vodacom have not released ANY info on what to expect but are merely trying to grow their dtabase by asking you to pre-register. I think I will go the eBay route.
Utter Bull.No mention was made at the launch by Steve Jobs about the FINE PRINT ! If thats the price Vodacom and others want to charge, then Boycott Them and get it on Ebay ! Thats what i am doing.
Hi,
I am also a little disappointed with these price points. I had assumed based on the same assumptions above i.e. “That $199 price is without the 24 month contract you have to take⦠read the fine print” that the iPhone would come free with business packages.
Clearly EBay is the route. Anyone tried EBay + http://www.wantitall.co.za/?
Anyhow it’s not over until the fat lady sings… IMHO Apple are putting good pressure on Vodacom.
cheers for now…

hey how much will it cost for an 3G iphone with out a contract in south africa.
I think you people are idiots. The price in the USA is $199 for the 8GB, **ON A CONTRACT**
It’s $599 without a contract (still locked though).
Here.

Being ex vodacom, these prices would not surprise me to be factual. Also dealing with MTN on a daily basis, the carriers put huge mark ups on all phones. We are totally stuffed in SA when it comes to contracts and especially outright purchases. There is also no way you will see the iPhone go for cheaper than the Touch. It will make an entire Range dead here is SA.
Yep I agree with Dexter, some of the guys commenting on here, might as well be on disability grants from the government.
If any IDIOT thinks that an iPhone 3G will sell for cheaper than an iPod touch should go behind the barn with me right now and get shot.
Every single time there are comments about the iPhone, there are these ridiculous people that pop up and come up with all this crap!
Do me a favour everyone saying they will get it on eBay, just take a gander at the prices the iphones are going for $700-$1000, so give me a break and make sure of your facts before you open your uneducated traps!
There I have finally vented my: inappropriate price commenters, anger now.

Meant to mention, a contact via Apple SA says there store prices will be in the same price bracket.
